Job overview
We have an excellent opportunity for a Band 3 health care support worker to join our team. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual who can work well within a multi-disciplinary team and support the registrant to deliver a high standard of patient-focused care at the minor injury unit in Llandrindod Wells Hospital.
This busy unit attends to local residents and seasonal visitors and is staffed by designated MIU nurses. The unit is accessed by a variety of patients with different injuries.
Informal visits or inquiries are encouraged prior to the closing date.
Main duties of the job
1. To assist nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) in the assessment process by contributing to developing a picture of patients' needs.
2. To assist in the delivery of care as identified in the patient’s care plan, reporting observations on progress or deterioration to the Nurse in Charge/Clinical Lead.
3. To develop skills and experience at carrying out delegated duties in respect of the physical and psychological needs of the patient not always under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge.
4. To respect the patient/carers and representatives, being sensitive at all times to their views and wishes.
5. To maintain the dignity of the patient at all times and provide the maximum amount of privacy and respect.
6. To respect confidential information obtained in the course of one's duties, always referring to the Nurse in Charge/Clinical Lead.
7. To record specific patient observations as delegated by the qualified nurse, immediately reporting any changes.
8. To support patients with long-term conditions by undertaking screening activities as delegated by the Clinical Lead.

Person specification
* NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care
* Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
* Good communication and interpersonal skills through written and verbal means
* Able to deal with stressful situations
* Understanding of care monitoring, audit, and evaluation of fundamentals of care
* Understanding of Health and Safety issues
* Flexible approach to the needs of the service
* ECDL or equivalent level of computer skills
* Aware of the needs of patients and their relatives/carers
* Ability to speak Welsh
* Good time management and ability to prioritise
* Able to work alone under the supervision of Clinical Lead
* Able to undertake extended tasks as required by the Clinical Lead
