Are you an experienced HLTA looking for your next challenge within education? Do you have a desire to help young children with additional needs? Do you want to be part of a supportive school that will facilitate career progression? We have the perfect role for you!
Long-Term Teachers have a unique opportunity to join one of our biggest special schools in Devon, providing outstanding educational care and support to students of all ages. Our school is seeking a talented, experienced, bubbly and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.
Based on a stunning campus surrounded by beautiful woodland and the seaside, our school caters for students with autism and complex needs from 3 - 19 years. Therefore, there are opportunities to work across primary, secondary and post-16 levels.
With an adapted curriculum, no two days are the same. They have fantastic provisions such as a forest school, woodland walk, bike trail, swimming pool and much more! If you are an outgoing person who loves the outdoors, this is certainly a place you will love to work!
Your main responsibilities as an HLTA will be to support the delivery of the curriculum within the classroom by assisting the teacher with any necessary tasks. You will also be asked to supervise whole classes during the absence of teachers and during PPA time. You must be confident and effective in classroom management. You may be asked to work with students on a 1:1 basis to support their development where required. Above all else, you will strive to create a positive, safe and inclusive environment to allow all students to thrive.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SEN and strategies to support a diverse range of needs. You must have excellent communication skills and be able to work well within a team. Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting young people is essential.
If you are an enthusiastic and dedicated professional looking to make a significant impact in a SEN setting, we would love to hear from you. This is a full time position with a September start. You will be working Monday to Friday, term time only.
