Solicitor – Regulatory (Health & Safety, Motor Crime & Inquests)
Location: Birmingham | Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 | PQE: NQ - 3
If your idea of “regulatory law” goes beyond dusty binders and into the real world—think workplace accidents, inquests, and courtroom drama that’s anything but routine—you might just be our kind of lawyer.
A top-tier national team (ranked Tier 1 in Health & Safety and described as a “dynamic market leader” by Legal 500) is looking to grow its Birmingham hub with a solicitor who’s passionate about the sharp end of regulatory law. You’ll join a genuinely supportive team that works with clients across sectors—public bodies, corporates, individuals—and tackles some of the most complex, high-profile, and occasionally headline-grabbing matters out there.
What’s in it for you?
* A competitive salary – £50-55k for starters.
* Early hands-on exposure – You won’t be a small cog in a big machine. You’ll be prepping cases, meeting clients, attending court and actually lawyering (yes, we’re using that as a verb).
* Top-tier mentorship – Learn directly from nationally recognised leaders in the regulatory field.
* Hybrid working – Yes, you can wear joggers and argue case law from your kitchen table.
* A benefits package that doesn’t suck – 28 days’ holiday (+ bank holidays), private healthcare, pension, life insurance, gym discounts, EAP support, cycle-to-work, and more.
* A genuinely supportive culture – No old-school legal egos here. Just people who want to do great work and help you do the same.
The Role
You’ll be working on Health & Safety cases, inquests and motor crime matters (both advisory and contentious). That means everything from advising big organisations and insurers to prepping for court, taking witness statements, wrangling expert evidence and attending hearings. You might also dabble in environmental law, transport regulation and public inquiries as needed. It’s varied, fascinating work with lots of room to grow.
You’ll thrive in this role if:
* You’ve got NQ – 3 years PQE and a passion for regulatory law (and ideally, some real-life experience in H&S, motor crime or inquests).
* You’re confident, curious and cool under pressure – whether you’re analysing evidence or chatting with clients.
* You’re a team player with a proactive streak (translation: you’re happy to pitch in and crack on when needed).
* You’ve got strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle a caseload without crying (too often).
Why this team?
This is a place where lawyers actually like working. There’s a culture of genuine support, not lip service. The team has deep expertise, a strong reputation, and an inclusive, down-to-earth vibe. If you want to grow fast, be trusted with meaningful work, and feel like a valued human rather than a PQE number, this is your next move.
Get your foot in the door, get your name on some case law, and get cracking. Apply now.
