Horsham College services a student population of over 1000 students in Years 7 to 12. It is the only government secondary school provider in the City of Horsham and surrounding areas, centrally located in the Wimmera next to the Grampians National Park and Mount Arapiles. Our students come from various local and smaller rural primary schools in the district and from diverse backgrounds. Students participate in community activities and are encouraged to establish connections. Selection Criteria
SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills, and experience in responding to student learning needs.
SC2: Experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student growth.
SC3: Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice, and providing feedback on student growth and achievement to students and parents.
SC4: Interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing, and engagement.
SC5: Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, with experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to improve the quality of teaching.
Role
The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges- range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching to achieve specific student outcomes. Teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve their knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and enhance their learning.
As teachers gain experience, their contributions to the school program beyond the classroom increase. All classroom teachers may be required to undertake additional duties appropriate to their salary range, qualifications, training, and experience.
Responsibilities
The role may include but is not limited to:
* Direct teaching of groups of students and individuals;
* Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum areas or programs;
* Undertaking other teaching-related and organizational duties as determined by the School Principal;
* Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursions;
* Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum area(s).
