The Role:
We are seeking to appoint a Security Officer (Peripatetic Guard) to provide high-quality security services across our College estates. The role is crucial in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our staff, students, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide flexible, responsive security cover across various college sites, ensuring safety and security for all.
* Protect the College's property and people from theft, threat, damage, or injury.
* Greet and direct visitors, contractors, students, and staff, ensuring adherence to safeguarding measures, including verifying contractor DBS checks.
* Conduct regular patrols of the college's premises, both internally and externally, ensuring security and safety at all times.
* Monitor CCTV, enforce safety protocols, and carry out security checks (e.g., securing IT rooms, checking for propped doors, and monitoring no-smoking areas).
* Act as Fire Marshal and assist with evacuation procedures during emergencies.
* Record daily logs, lost and found items, and key issues, as well as ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
* Assist with first aid duties, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and adhering to safeguarding protocols.
* Be flexible and available to travel across all College sites as needed.
Essential Requirements:
* Possession of an SIA Badge or willingness to obtain one.
* Experience in security, reception, or related industries.
* Demonstrable numeracy and literacy skills to Level 2.
* Understanding of health and safety principles and evacuation procedures.
* Ability to work under pressure and respond to unexpected situations.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with staff, students, and visitors.
* Ability to manage conflict calmly and effectively.
* Punctual, reliable, and able to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
* A full, clean UK driving license.
* Eligible to work with young or vulnerable individuals.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience in working with young or vulnerable students.
* First aid certification or willingness to undergo first aid training.
