We're looking for a passionate Finance Business Partner to join the Finance function based in Wales. As a Finance Business Partner, you will actively support, challenge, and drive the strategic and financial decisions and priorities of the organisation, ensuring alignment with overarching goals. Your focus will be on fostering sustainable performance improvement by leveraging data-driven insights and collaborating closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for growth and efficiency. Additionally, you will prioritise the development of talent within the Finance Business Partner community, nurturing skills and capabilities that will empower the team to adapt to the evolving landscape and effectively navigate the challenges presented by the new price control agreement.
This role is based out of our Cardiff office, and we'd hope to see you at least two days per week but you're welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We're happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
What You'll Do
* Partner the NGED Operations Director (South Wales) in delivery of strategic objectives.
* Support the management of performance, financial risks and the implementation & maintenance of financial controls.
* Support the delivery of the financial strategy against the levers within the regulatory framework.
* Shape the definition of value, key drivers which create value and the KPIs which measure value; and ensure these are used to inform performance management, decision making and planning for the future.
* Lead the long-term business & financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes to drive performance for the operational unit.
* Support the implementation of continuous improvement and performance excellence activities, consistently achieving strong results.
* Act as the finance lead on the investment appraisal process for South Wales, guiding decision making with insight and optimisation opportunities, to ensure that all current and future investments are made in line with the business strategy and value requirements.
* Play an active role in developing and maintaining a cohesive team across Finance and the Business / Functions, including contribution to the successful implementation of Finance strategic priorities, to create & embed a high performing Community.
* Act as champion of operating model discipline, ensuring clean delineation of accountabilities and responsibilities in accordance with the organisational blueprint/RACI.
* Present the monthly results in a style suitable for both a finance and non-finance audience, delivering insight and highlighting priority areas for focus, ensuring efficiencies are optimised for the longer term.
* Support development and management of the finance team and reinforce driving a performance management culture that delivers value through employee engagement.
What You'll Have
* Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA etc)
* The ability to influence and impact the decisions and financial performance of senior stakeholders and their teams throughout the relevant business area.
* Strong commercial skills
* Good strategic outlook. Joins the dots between long term strategy and financial performance, whilst dealing with ambiguity.
* Proven ability to adapt style of financial information presentation to suit a range of stakeholders, both financial and non-financial.
* Planning, forecasting and budgeting expert.
* Demonstrated Business Partner skills to act as a trusted advisor using strategic insight to deliver tangible performance improvements.
* Proactively maintaining continued professional development under relevant accountancy body or other recognised professional development.
* Strong understanding of how value is generated and of operating within a regulated business environment.
