Retail Fashion Alterations and Sewing Volunteers
Volunteer to help Sue Ryder be there when it matters.
Do you enjoy sewing and working with textiles? If you have a passion for sewing and textiles or you're creative and passionate about upcycling - and would like to help support your local community, then we have an exciting volunteer opportunity for you!
Our Royal Leamington Spa shop is a bustling hub of activity, seeing hundreds of bags of donations through its doors each week. And we're looking for someone who can play a pivotal role in helping our Retail team to mend and alter clothing ready to sell in our fabulous shop.
If you have never sewn for a charitable cause, you'll find it's a great way to share your love of sewing and make a difference at the same time.
The Role - Retail Fashion Alterations and Sewing Volunteer
1. Making repairs to clothing such as fixing buttons, zips and torn linings in order to sell in the shop.
2. Making alterations to clothing, such as altering hems, cuffs, and collars in order to sell in the shop.
3. You may choose which garments you feel confident repairing/altering.
4. Assisting with alterations and repairs for our customers in-store.
5. For those interested in fashion and design – undertaking more complex alterations / transforming outfits.
6. We will provide materials that you may need such as embellishments, ribbons, threads, use of our own sewing kits, a sewing machine, and other tools.
About You
As a Retail Fashion Alterations and Sewing Volunteer you will:
1. Be able and willing to follow instructions.
2. Able to use a sewing machine.
3. Be able to make good quality repairs and alterations.
4. Be reliable, organized, and honest with a positive 'can-do' attitude.
5. Have good attention to detail.
