Support Assistant to Occupational Therapy Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Occupational therapy assistant to work alongside the established Occupational therapy team in Springview, Clatterbridge hospital.
Springview is an 80 bedded Mental Health assessment unit for adults and elderly patients.
We would like the successful applicant to be able to work as part of the OT Team in the offices/department and with other staff across the unit.
This position is to help, assist and support the OT team in their role. The job will be best suited to someone who is extremely well-organized, efficient, practical, logical, competent and a car owner/driver.
The role will involve organizing equipment/activities, shopping for food items, cleaning the department/kitchens, ordering supplies, sorting petty cash, and producing posters. A good understanding of computer programmes would be beneficial.
Main duties of the job
* Be part of a friendly, supportive, and well-established MDT.
* Receive guidance and direction from experienced Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Technical Instructors.
* Benefit from ongoing professional development, including:
o Supervision
o Annual appraisals
o Training opportunities
* Free access to a fully equipped gym
Hours: Permanent (flexible) 22 hours a week across 5 days (Monday - Friday).

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Completion of /or working towards Care Certificate (CWP In-house 2 day training to be completed within 3 months of start date)
Knowledge & Expertise
* Ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Skills in housekeeping and organisation
* Skills in using a variety of activities and interventions relevant to the post such as creative activities and domestic skills
* Some understanding of issues affecting people with mental health problems
Experience
* Basic computer skills
* Experience working in mental health or learning disabilities, care work, or working with vulnerable people.
* Experience of supporting others to take part in activities
