Field-Based Telematics Engineer
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and technically skilled Field-Based Telematics Engineer to join our team. As a Telematics Engineer, you will play a critical role in installing, maintaining, and providing technical support for telematics systems, safety systems, and camera systems in various vehicles and equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of telematics technology, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently in a field-based environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Install, configure, and calibrate telematics systems in vehicles including HGV's, trucks, earth-moving, or quarry equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and specifications.
2. Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting to ensure proper functionality of telematics devices and associated software.
3. Perform routine maintenance and inspections of installed telematics systems, identifying and resolving any technical issues.
4. Provide on-site technical support and training to customers on the use and functionality of telematics systems.
5. Collaborate with customers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure successful system integration.
6. Keep detailed records of installations, maintenance activities, and technical support provided.
7. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new telematics technologies, and regulations related to data privacy and security.
8. Collaborate with the engineering team to provide feedback on system enhancements and suggest improvements.
9. Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures while working on vehicles and equipment.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical training or certification in electronics, telecommunications, or automotive engineering is preferred.
2. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Telematics Engineer or in a related role.
3. Strong knowledge of telematics technology, including GPS tracking, vehicle diagnostics, and data communications.
4. Proficiency in using telematics diagnostic and configuration tools, as well as related software applications.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
6. Strong communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
7. Ability to work independently and in a field-based environment.
8. A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
9. Willingness to travel to customer sites on a regular basis.
