We are currently supporting them in the recruitment of experienced Electrical Technicians to join several departments across their site, supporting key operations across both downstream and mill environments.
This is a fantastic opportunity for skilled electrical professionals to join a multi-disciplined engineering team, playing a key role in delivering both reactive and preventative maintenance to support production goals and ensure a safe, efficient working environment.
Role Overview
As an Electrical Technician, you will work closely with shift managers, engineering leads, and cross-functional teams to ensure plant reliability, safety, and optimal performance. You will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing faults, maintaining electrical systems, and contributing to continuous improvement projects. You’ll also assist in ensuring all legal, safety, and operational standards are met across a variety of heavy industrial systems.
This is a hands-on role ideal for a proactive, team-oriented technician with a strong commitment to engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of electrical plant equipment
2. Respond to breakdowns and conduct root cause analysis and fault finding
3. Support production and engineering teams to meet daily safety, quality, and output targets
4. Maintain accurate records of work completed using CMMS, booking out parts and communicating with your team leader
5. Supervise and organise tasks for a multi-skilled workforce as required
6. Assist in developing and improving maintenance procedures
7. Ensure compliance with permit-to-work systems and site safety regulations
8. Contribute to the creation of risk assessments, safe working procedures, and job task descriptions
9. Participate in plant improvement initiatives and support engineering project delivery
10. Provide cover during holidays or absences to ensure team continuity
11. Issue permits and assist with contractor coordination where required
12. Undertake ongoing training to build and refresh technical knowledge and skills
About You
We’re looking for a reliable and self-motivated technician with a solid background in industrial electrical maintenance. You’ll be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can confidently lead small teams when needed.
Essential Criteria
1. Recognised engineering apprenticeship (minimum ONC level; HNC preferred)
2. Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including:
o AC & DC circuits
o PLCs and robotics
o Hydraulic systems
o Pumps, drives, and gearboxes
o Dust extraction and vacuum systems
o Material handling and water cooling systems
3. Experience of working with permit systems
4. Effective problem-solving and fault-finding abilities
5. Able to work independently or as part of a team
6. Good understanding of safety, compliance, and plant operations
