The Role
1. To be the pharmacy lead for the Pharmacist Prescribing led clinic service in Substance Misuse.
2. To act as a role model in delivery of pharmacy led clinics for approximately 80 – 100 substance misuse patients and be autonomous and directly responsible for the care and prescribing of these patients.
3. To develop service provision by self and multidisciplinary colleagues and ensure practice is kept up to date.
4. To evaluate/audit service delivery by self and others to ensure a quality service is delivered.
Qualifications & Training
1. Masters of Pharmacy Degree.
2. Member of General Pharmaceutical Council.
3. Pharmacist Independent Prescriber.
4. Certificate in the Management of Drug Misuse in Primary Care, Part 2.
5. Postgraduate higher degree/diploma in clinical pharmacy (or similar), or demonstrable evidence of clinical knowledge equivalent to that level.
6. Demonstrable commitment to CPD.
Experience
1. 6 years post-registration experience with a minimum of 3-years experience as a clinical pharmacist practitioner.
2. Clinical experience in relevant patient group.
3. Previous experience in delivering prescribing clinic(s).
4. Demonstrable use of clinical audit to improve practice.
5. Experience in staff supervision/training/development.
Knowledge
1. Experience in patient information/education.
2. Identifies a vision for the delivery of pharmaceutical services to the required patient population.
3. Demonstrable expert clinical knowledge and skills.
4. Demonstrate advanced level of clinical reasoning and judgement.
5. Manage difficult and ambiguous problems.
Skills/Abilities
1. Have a range and level of skills i.e. communication (oral, written, presentation), planning/organisation, numeracy, leadership etc.
2. Ability to identify and prioritise clinical work.
3. Ability to identify and manage risks.
4. Ability to tolerate uncertainty and deal with unplanned demands on a daily basis.
5. Ability to work autonomously and be self-motivated.
6. Ability to evaluate own practice.
7. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, in a pharmacy and multi-disciplinary environment.
8. Proven project/practice research/audit skills with the ability to integrate research into practice.
Specific Job Requirements
1. Use of IT systems.
2. Driving between clinic locations.
3. Willingness to contribute to the general working of the multidisciplinary substance misuse team.
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
Contract type: Permanent, Part Time, 29.6 hours
Location and Working Pattern: This role will be based in NHS Lanarkshire Area Wide. The working pattern for this role Mon-Fri; 9:00-5:00 pro rata.
