Early Years Practitioner
Location: Pownall Hall School, Wilmslow, SK9 5DW
Reports To: Room Lead
Employment Type: Full Time, All Year Round, Permanent
Salary: £27,248.00 per annum, level 3
To work within the ethos Pownall Hall School and provide a safe, warm, welcoming, and stimulating environment, where children and families feel valued. With the guidance of the Room Lead and Deputy Lead, the EYFS practitioner will work to ensure the well-being, care of all young children and support their access to learning. To meet the individual children’s needs, through play and learning opportunities and general care. To work as a Key Person with responsibility for a group of children. EYFS Practitioners must follow all safeguarding policies, procedures and attend all training as specified by the Management of the school.
Key Responsibilities
• Child Development: Observe, assess, and plan for children’s developmental needs and interests. Support their physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
• Curriculum Delivery: Implement engaging and age-appropriate activities that meet the requirements of the EYFS framework. Foster a love of learning through play-based experiences.
• Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in line with safeguarding policies and practices. Report any concerns in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
• Communication: Build positive relationships with children, parents, and caregivers. Maintain open and effective communication, providing regular feedback on children's progress.
• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other staff members to create a cohesive learning environment. Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
• Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of children’s progress, observations, and assessments. Contribute to individual learning plans and progress reports.
• Environment Preparation: Help create a welcoming, clean, and vibrant environment that supports all areas of learning. Ensure that resources are accessible and well-organised.
• Behaviour Management: Promote positive behaviour and conflict resolution strategies in line with the setting's policies. Encourage children to develop social skills and respect for others.
Qualifications and Skills
• A relevant qualification in early years education (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, Early Years Degree)
• Strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and child development principles
• Experience working with young children in a nursery, preschool, or similar setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures
• Creative and enthusiastic approach to teaching and learning
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and training
