Assistant Manager | Harpenden| Full Time - Minimum of 40 hours a week on a flexible rota, this will include every other weekend | £29,000 - £30,500 per annum
Our client is looking for an experienced full-time Assistant Manager to join their team at their café, located within Harpenden Leisure Centre. The café is set in the beautiful 56 acres of Rothamsted Park and offers a fresh, diverse menu suitable for all ages and tastes.
As an Assistant Manager, you will represent the brand and the culture of their establishment and provide clients with a professional and friendly service. You will support the Cafe Manager in the day to day running, cooking and organisation of the busy café, alongside the rest of the team.
Your main duties will include looking after customers with excellent customer service, dispensing drinks and cleaning of café and customer areas. The role does include regular cooking, so an ideal candidate will have a minimum of level 2 food safety.
You will either be an experienced assistant manager or a strong supervisor, and your background will be working in busy coffee shops, restaurants, cafes, customer facing catering operations or cafe bakeries - in a hands-on capacity.

What will your role look like?
* Oversee the daily operation of the café, including food preparation
* Assisting the Café Manager in overseeing the staff, ensuring a high level of customer service is always maintained
* Ensure all hygiene, food and safety standards are met across the business daily
* Complete all paperwork daily as scheduled
* Checking that cleaning schedules are completed on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
* Assist in running of events when required (Café / Cultural Centre based)
* Cashing up at the end of the day and inputting the daily takings
* Cash handling
* Ensure the site is opened and correctly closed every day
* Assist in completing stock takes on a weekly basis
* Maintaining a stock level in line with business, maintaining a low level during quiet periods and keeping up with demand during peak times
* Ensure site wastage is kept to a minimum
* Report any maintenance issues as soon as possible to management
* Ensure the staff are upselling at all opportunities
