Company Overview:
Coinford is a groundworks and concrete frame specialist that delivers contracts ranging from £1million to £50million throughout London and the Southeast of England. This role works out of our Head office, Redeham Hall
Role Purpose/Objective:
The primary duty of this role is as an HGV Roadsweeper cover driver / operator however, when not required to cover road sweeper holidays or absence, you will be required to assist our busy plant yard team, in the yard or driving various vehicles from HGV lorries down to transit vans with trailers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing sweeper driver relief cover
* Provide HGV delivery relief driving
* Providing small delivery van driver relief cover
* Ensure the roadways and gullies are clear of debris
* Ensure the vehicle is in good and safe working order with visual and operational checks – both daily and weekly
* Maintenance of the sweeper e.g. changing brushes, keeping the vehicle clean and in good working order
* Ensure the vehicle is loaded safely with the correct materials to avoid cross contamination and follow all environmental health and safety policies
* Always maintain a safe work environment
* Make sure all weekly paperwork and timesheets are signed off and up to date
* Report all sweeper and equipment issues and damages to the Line Manager immediately – to ensure a quick response
* Washing down and cleaning the sweeper before leaving site / going on highways
* Maintain good working relationships with all site managers
* Plan workload to minimise disruption on site
* Assist other team members and departments as required
* All other duties to be cleared by the Line Manager
Health & Safety
* Ensure that loads are safe for transportation
* Ensure that you abide to the laws and regulations of the UK Highways
* Ensure compliance with site safety and delivery regulations
* Ensure that all routes taken are the most safety conscious for vulnerable road users
* The management of ratchet straps, and ensuring that they are fit for purpose
* Ensure that the correct PPE is available
Quality
* Comply to Drivers Hours rules and regulations
* Ensure that Tacho Downloads are actioned correctly
* Carry out daily defect reporting
* Ensure that vehicles are operational, in accordance with the managers directive, before leaving the yard
* Ensure that all straps and chains are tested, certificated and in date
* Maintain professionalism and act as a good ambassador for the company
* Ensure that sites are loaded in a timely manner
* Ensure that all equipment due to be delivered on site is present and correct
Commercial
* Ensuring route planning to ensure efficient deliveries
* Ensure that idling is kept to a minimum

Experience/skills required:
* Previous experience of left- hand drive vehicles preferred
* Previous experience of maintaining vehicles preferred but not essential, training will be provided
* Be familiar with operational manuals
* Use of two-way radios
* An excellent communicator
* Attention to detail
* Excellent work ethic
* Excellent time keeping skills and proactive attitude
* Resilience, ability to remain calm and manage challenging road situations as well as challenging people/personalities
Please note: this job requires a reasonable level of fitness for changing and maintaining brushes and keeping the vehicle clean (both in and outside of the vehicle)
Qualifications:
* Absolute minimum GCSE or equivalent qualification in English and Mathematics
* Valid Driver CPC qualification
* Class 2 HGV Driver Licence
