Here at EMIS we are looking for an innovative and solution driven Senior Network Engineers to join us on a permanent basis, working within our hosted infrastructure team.
This is a great opportunity to join an established and talented hosted infrastructure team. You will be joining a team who are growing, and therefore that presents real opportunity for you to impart your knowledge as well as develop your expertise.
You will be leading on projects involving the design, specification, build and delivery of product network environments to ensure high levels of network and service stability for hosted systems. Our main technology vendors include Cisco, Juniper and HP, and we are currently on a transformation journey from on-prem to cloud technologies including AWS and Azure.

Please note that whilst this role is hybrid position, there would be an expectation for you to come into the Leeds office on a weekly basis. There is also an on-call schedule for this Senior Network Engineer job.
What you’ll do
You will be working in a fast-paced role where you will be you will be a technical lead for various network projects from data centre migration to cloud based projects with AWS or Azure. As a Senior Network Engineer, we will look to you to mentor and coach more junior members of the network team.
You will lead on providing technical resource in the event of a major incidents or incident investigation. Collaboration is key, you will work with internal and external stakeholders in resolving major incidents and project delivery.
We want you to operate with an open mind to allow you to focus on improving current documentation and bring value to the team through a time of transformation.
Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include;
* Design and evolve existing network solutions in line with our product roadmap
* Ensure the existing network solutions are patched to current/suitable security levels and work with our security teams to ensure we are fully compliant
* Support the architecture function in assessing new technologies and capabilities
* Monitor, measure and maintain/improve network performance – to provide a good customer experience
Who you’ll be
You will be an experienced Senior Network Engineer, who demonstrates great experience and knowledge in working in a complex hosted environment. You will have had previous exposure to leading on large scale delivery projects both on prem and in cloud.
You will be a self-motivated and curious individual who enjoys working with autonomy, and has exposure to mentoring colleagues within a networking team.
The ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with your peers and wider stakeholders within the business is key, whilst always having a focus on our customer’s needs.
Technical skills we are looking for you to demonstrate include;
* Expert knowledge of Networks (WAN, LAN and WLAN) particularly Juniper and Cisco technology stacks
* Detailed understanding of Load Balancer technologies
* Excellent understanding of cloud based solutions (Azure and AWS)
* Experience of deploying/supporting Software Defined Networking
* Detailed practical understanding of firewall and IPS/IDS technologies
* Good understanding of infrastructure as a code and how to automate the provisioning and polices across the network
