The ideal candidate is a dynamic professional with extensive experience in IT support within laboratory environments. This role demands a highly flexible individual with excellent technical and communication skills to manage and enhance the IT infrastructure supporting our lab operations. You will be instrumental in ensuring smooth IT services at our lab sites, bridging the gap between Systems Administration and IT Management. Responsibilities: On-Site IT Support for Lab Operations: Provide advanced IT support for laboratory equipment and systems. Ensure seamless integration of lab instruments with IT infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to lab operations promptly. Collaborate with lab personnel to understand IT needs and implement solutions. Support service operations by ensuring IT systems are efficient, reliable, and secure. IT Infrastructure Management: Oversee and maintain IT infrastructure at lab sites, including servers, networks, communication systems, and endpoints. Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and testing of network and server systems to ensure optimal functionality and performance. Configure and manage NAS storage servers, routers, firewalls, and VPNs. Implement and support enterprise LAN/WAN networks at lab locations. Information Security: Maintain and configure information security software, managing incidents alongside other team members. Ensure compliance with IT policies and procedures in line with regulatory, legislative, quality, and information security requirements. Contribute to the development and enforcement of IT security policies at lab sites. Asset and Vendor Management: Oversee the deployment and maintenance of all employee IT equipment at lab locations. Manage internal asset registers and track warranties on company assets. Handle processing of incoming and outgoing equipment shipments. Collaborate with vendors and third parties to support business goals. Strategic Collaboration: Liaise with cross-functional teams to support business objectives related to lab and service operations. Participate in IT strategic planning for lab sites and contribute to projects that align with company goals. Lead or assist in projects involving system upgrades, migrations, and implementations at lab locations. Required Skills and Experience: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience in Systems Administration. Minimum of 5 years of professional IT experience, preferably in a laboratory or scientific environment. Proven experience in supporting IT systems within lab operations. Strong understanding of integrating laboratory equipment with IT systems. Experience in implementing and supporting enterprise LAN/WAN networks. Administration experience with Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) or Office 365 platforms. Proficiency in Intune administration. Strong knowledge of configuring and managing NAS storage servers. Expertise in router, firewall, and VPN configuration. Experience with Active Directory and cloud directory services like JumpCloud. Familiarity with remote connectivity and support solutions (e.g., n-Able). Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical staff. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrated ability to work independently at on-site locations. Willingness to travel between the UK and Basel as required. Desirable Experience Experience working in an ISO 27001 certified environment. Background in information security practices and policies. Previous experience in managing IT operations in laboratory environments. Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements related to lab operations. Experience managing Google Workspace Enterprise.
