Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Analysis Engineer to join our team. The role involves providing accurate evaluations of mechanical systems, components, and structures using analytical techniques and tools. You will be responsible for advising our sales and design teams on the theoretical performance of products, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and company procedures.
Responsibilities & Duties
* Perform hand calculations and FEA Analysis to meet project requirements, including mechanical, structural, thermal, fatigue, acoustic, shock, and blast analysis.
* Ensure self-prepared calculations are accurate, concise, and considerate of all lifecycle forces/factors before release.
* Apply correct design and calculation standards across all projects to ensure theoretical assurance.
* Collaborate with design engineers to ensure models and drawings accurately reflect theoretical analysis, advising on modifications as necessary.
* Produce detailed reports, presentations, and calculation documents for customer approval.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance departmental technical capabilities and efficiency.
* Contribute to research and development activities and discuss innovative design solutions.
* Assist new business inquiries with accurate and timely communication, maintaining an up-to-date enquiry tracker.
* Provide technical support on projects and liaise with customers as required.
* Ensure adherence to project schedules and meet individual and departmental objectives.
* Submit timesheets, and process absence/holiday requests in accordance with company procedures.
* Maintain alignment with company values and vision.
* Perform other duties as required, commensurate with the roles grade.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Either:
o Minimum HND in Engineering with 5 years of experience in calculations and analysis within a related engineering industry OR
o Bachelors degree (BEng Hons) in Engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering) with 3 years of experience in calculations and analysis within a related engineering industry.
* Proficiency in generating hand and software-based calculations in line with common design standards (e.g., British Standards & Eurocodes).
* Strong understanding of load paths, failure modes, and operating limits of steel structures/components.
* A commitment to quality and timely output.
* Ability to write detailed technical reports and specifications.
* Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills, both internally and externally.
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Experience using ANSYS FEA software.
* Proficiency in Autodesk 3D Inventor, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Vault.
* Familiarity with door performance testing standards and guidelines.
* Understanding of drive and control systems operating principles.
* Knowledge of welding types, strengths, and limitations.
* Awareness of tolerance stacking and practical tolerance application.
* Driven to pursue Chartered Engineer status.
* Hold or have the ability to obtain valid SC clearance.
