We have a permanent Operations Director opportunity available within TATA Steel’s Corby works. This role is ideal for someone with Heavy industry and Manufacturing experience and has familiarity within a large and complex industrial environment as a member of senior leadership.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the overall running and leadership of the large scale Tubes Manufacturing site. Therefore, a high level of resilience, motivation and strong engineering management background is imperative.
Location: TATA Steel, Weldon Rd, Corby NN17 5UA
Salary: £90,000-£100,000 per annum (dependent upon experience)
The role is PAYE and INSIDE IR35
Shift timings: Flexible in collaboration with core working office hours. A typical day, 08:00-17:30
Essential requirements:

Educated to degree level in an Engineering or Technical discipline
*
NEBOSH or equivalent H&S qualification
*
5+ years experience within a Heavy Industry/Manufacturing environment in a leadership position
*
Proven experience managing a team of circa 400 employees
*
Substantial experience within a complex, multi layered environment, managing and implementing change
*
Senior Leadership level experience within a unionised environment
*
Budget responsibility of site(s) with a turnover exceeding £200M
*
Extensive knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement tools
*
Ability to tackle complex challenges in a positive manner
*
Strong verbal and written communication skill
*
High level of motivation and resilience
*
Ability to influence and negotiate effectively
*
Right to work in the UK with no restrictions or limitations
Responsibilities (condensed):
*
Full financial responsibility of the site (turnover circa £200M)
*
Overseeing approx 400 employees on the large 24/5 manufacturing site
*
Direct reports from Engineering, Manufacturing and Technical teams as well as establishing connections with Supply Chain and Commercial teams
*
Providing direction across all areas and ensuring company objectives are met
*
Developing and embedding a Lean Manufacturing/continuous improvement environment
*
Dealing with objections and maintaining harmony of a large workforce
*
Developing relationships with Unions to improve employee engagement
*
Overall responsibility for effective customer delivery
*
Accountability for the setting, management and spend of budgets
*
Leading financial performance initiatives
*
Ensuring CAPEX and revenue schemes are accurate, detailed, justified and prioritised accordingly
*
Managing a challenging maintenance schedule effectively
*
Overall responsibility for all Health, Safety and Environmental matters
*
Managing major hazards and major accident prevention
*
Ensuring the clear communication of the organisations vision and values
*
Making appropriate and effective training and development programmes available for employees personal growth
*
Developing a long term business plan for the works
