Knowledge Requirements
Essential
1. Knowledge within a specialism.
2. Excellent knowledge of pharmaceutical technical procedures.
3. Knowledge and experience of pharmacy processes and the IT systems used within a pharmacy department and trust for medicines management.
Qualifications
Essential
1. BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
2. City & Guilds or equivalent in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
3. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
4. Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice.
5. Experience of pharmacy computer systems.
Desirable
1. GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English, and Science.
2. GCSE Grade A or B in maths (or equivalent).
3. Clinical Qualification in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Experience
Essential
1. Significant hospital pharmacy experience (2-3 years) as a registered technician.
2. Experience as an Accredited Checking Technician.
3. Demonstrated experience of multidisciplinary team working.
4. Practical experience of using pharmacy computer systems (e.g. JAC or Ascribe).
5. Experience of working in a ward environment.
6. Excellent communication skills and an ability to deliver complex information in a usable format.
7. Willingness to learn new skills.
8. Ability to use own initiative.
9. Meets set targets.
10. Attention to detail.
Desirable
1. Supervisory Ability.
2. Training ability.
3. Previous experience of change management.
