Role Overview: As an Automation Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the full lifecycle of Motion Control, HMI, PLC, and SCADA systems for our clients. Working within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, youll collaborate closely with Project Managers, sales teams, and clients to design, develop, and implement automation systems. Your responsibilities will span from initial project design and engineering through to commissioning, maintenance, and optimization of systems. Engineering Translate user requirements into functional designs and technical solutions. Develop and implement applications for Motion Control, HMI, PLC, and SCADA systems. Provide support during the purchase of new machinery for the project department. Oversee the commissioning of new installations (FAT, SAT) in collaboration with the Project Manager. Manage project scope, budget, and timelines effectively. Maintain and update automation documentation, including functional analyses and user manuals. 2. Customer Support Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day automation issues. Participate in a rotating on-call support schedule. Support production, process improvements, and maintenance teams in problem analysis and optimization. Apply software and hardware updates as required. Manage and maintain critical spare parts inventory. 3. Development Optimize work processes and establish standards for process control software and systems to enhance reliability and efficiency. Engage in knowledge-sharing and best-practice discussions with peer groups. Commit to continuous learning to stay at the forefront of industry advancements. Organize and deliver training sessions for end-users and peers. Qualifications and Skills: Education: Masters or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Process Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered. Experience: Minimum of 3 years in automation systems engineering. Technical Skills: Proficient in controls software design/development using Siemens, Mitsubishi, Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, etc. Experience with programming languages such as C#, VB, VB.Net, and SQL for cross-platform applications. Strong knowledge of industrial HMI, control systems, SCADA, Windows/Linux, OPC Server, and DDE. Familiarity with electrical and instrumentation equipment. Basic IT skills, including database management, networking, operating systems, and cybersecurity. Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and conceptual thinking abilities. Strong teamwork and communication skills to handle multiple concurrent projects. Independent, self-motivated, and capable of managing responsibilities with minimal supervision. Effective communication across all levels, from operators to management and IT. Other Requirements: Full UK driving licence. Eligibility to work and live in the UK. Excellent command of English.
