We are recruiting for a Band 3 healthcare assistant to work within our Early Pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology Unit (EPAU/EGAU) at Peterborough City Hospital.

The post holder will be part of a multi-professional team and will provide high quality care and support to patients under the guidance of a Registered Practitioner in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner and in line with the Trusts Health Care Assistant competencies ensuring that a high standard of care is maintained.
• Acting always in the patient’s best interests;
• Protecting and maintaining the patient’s privacy and dignity at all times;
• Providing individualised care respecting personal beliefs and preferences;
• Alerting the Registered Healthcare Professional to any change or concern relating to the welfare of a patient in a timely manner.

The role of a HCA in EPAU/EGAU consists of, but is not limited to:
• Chaperoning ultrasound scan lists,
• Chaperoning doctors whilst carrying out examinations,
• Chaperoning minor surgical procedures,
• Venepuncture and cannulation,
• Observations,
• Stocking up rooms/trolleys/paperwork
• Bladder scanning, and generally working alongside and supporting the nursing team.
