Job Title: Part-Time Buildings Manager Location: Fitzrovia, London. Mainly in the chapel but some homeworking considered Position Type: Part-Time (1.5 day per week (flexible hours) plus opportunity to work extra hours if needed Salary: 1.5 days (10.5 hrs)/wk, annual salary of £9,256.50 Overview The Fitzrovia Chapel, a Grade II listed building and former hospital chapel, is seeking a highly organised Part-Time Buildings Manager to join its small team to oversee the maintenance, safety, and security of the chapel. The ideal candidate will have a background in facilities management (ideally in a heritage setting), a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage diverse tasks related to the upkeep of this historic landmark. Key Responsibilities include: Fire and Smoke Alarm Management: Liaise with our supplier, timetable works and ensure legal compliance. Security Systems Oversight: Liaise with our supplier for the maintenance and monitoring of the burglar alarm system. Other Buildings Oversight: Identify, timetable and prioritise areas such as electrical and heating maintenance to ensure they are working and legally compliant. Liaise with external suppliers and the facilities team in the square. Work with our Health and Safety Consultant. Specialist Repairs: Identify and prioritise specialist repairs required for the preservation of this heritage building. Work closely with contractors and specialists to schedule and oversee necessary repairs. Maintain an updated log of all repairs and restoration projects. Timetable of Activities: Maintain a timetable of activities, events, and routine maintenance tasks. Coordinate with event organisers, ensuring that chapel activities do not compromise the integrity of the building. Implement measures to minimise disruptions during events and maintenance activities. Administrative Duties: Handle administrative tasks related to chapel operations such as relevant licences and health and safety documentation and staff training. Exhibitions and space hires: Liaise with hirers and installers to complete risk assessments and regularly being on hand for exhibition installing and deinstalling days when needed Experience and Qualifications: Experience in facilities management, preferably in a heritage or historic building context. Knowledge of fire safety regulations and experience with fire alarm systems. Familiarity with security systems. Experience of writing risk assessments. Excellent organisational and multitasking skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. IOSH training is desirable. Knowledge of basic plumbing and electricals is preferred. Ability to work independently and flexibly as part of a team.
