Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Cancer and Clinical Services Transformation Manager at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
In collaboration with the Cancer Operations Programme Director, this key role ensures the safe and effective delivery of cancer pathways post-Cerner go-live including:
Identification of opportunities to improve efficiency of Cancer Pathways and providing staff training to deliver.
Delivery of best practice timed pathways across all tumour sites within the trust and working with respective tumour sites to identify bottlenecks and development of action plans to address.
Candidates should have extensive experience in the use of Cerner EPR, as well as operational experience of managing cancer pathways in an acute NHS setting.
The post holder will play a pivotal role in supporting teams to deliver cancer pathways and services and will ensure operational processes are safely moved into Cerner recorded processes. The post holder will work closely with clinical, nursing, and operational teams across the various tumour groups, and the wider organisation as a whole, to drive positive change.
Communication and organisational skills are essential for this role, alongside a passion for delivering service improvement and optimal patient experience.
Main duties of the job
1. The post holder will be expected to provide expert project management skills and support to the cancer services team, clinical, nursing and operational teams.
2. Work on behalf of the Cancer Operations Programme Director to ensure alignment of programmes and projects to the overall portfolio and strategic direction.
3. Work with the Cancer Operations Programme Director to develop, refine and champion project management best practice.
4. Provide expertise on programme structuring, planning, benefits quantification and tracking on behalf of the wider team.
5. Able to analyse, diagnose and resolve highly complex problems to successful conclusion.
6. Use highly developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams across the Trust, such that they understand and work to achieve the Trusts' performance expectations.
7. Deploy expert communication, negotiation and influencing skills to build and maintain excellent working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders on a range of service improvement projects, driving and challenging each key working relationship to innovate and achieve reform in accordance with agreed objectives.
8. Deal with complex and conflicting subject matter problems or in day to day work including the management of potentially aggressive and / or antagonistic situations with staff and stakeholders within change programmes for successful outcomes.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. 9. Masters degree or equivalent knowledge gained through experience
10. Experience at a senior level in a complex organisation
11. A proven track record of service improvement and/or ? operational management with responsibility for the full range of operational and clinical services. ? Evidence of managing service change at a senior level. ? Evidence of using change/service improvement methodologies such as 6 Sigma and/or Lean
12. Previous role in service improvement or operational experience at service manager level or above
13. Extensive NHS experience at 1 or more acute providers
14. Extensive experience in the use of Cerner Electronic Patient Record
15. Highly developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams.
16. Ability to lead the redesign of services to ensure they are delivered to the highest standard and are cost effective.
17. Proven experience of researching best practice and developing solutions that can achieve optimal outcomes for all stakeholders using quality improvement tools and techniques
18. Ability to be intellectually flexible and to look beyond existing structures, ways of working, boundaries and organisations to produce more effective and innovative service delivery and partnerships.
