Security Design Engineer | Permanent | Manchester | Up to £40,000 p.a.
Peaple Talent have partnered with a leading engineering company in Manchester looking to recruit a Security Design Engineer.
Please note that this is not a Cyber/IT Security Engineer; it is more focused on engineering design. Our client is seeking a candidate with experience designing for the built environment with a focus on physical security and electronics system design (CCTV, alarms, access controls, etc.).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supporting client and stakeholder interactions to define security requirements for projects.
2. Creating threat and risk evaluations while identifying relevant security operational needs that inform the creation of technical security frameworks.
3. Designing physical and digital security solutions that align with approved security plans, including drafting technical specifications, engineering diagrams, and project-specific reports.
4. Establishing and overseeing project administration systems, managing job resources and budgets, and making adjustments when required.
5. Collaborating with other design teams to ensure security considerations are incorporated into projects.
6. Participating in client meetings as part of the project delivery team.
7. Actively contributing to our client’s security engineering team by helping to refine project delivery strategies and supporting the team’s ongoing development.
Key Experience/Qualifications Required:
1. A 2:1 degree or equivalent in engineering or a related field is required (a master’s degree or other relevant postgraduate qualification would be a plus).
2. Proficiency in engineering design and modelling software like CAD and REVIT.
3. Familiarity with the RIBA Plan of Work.
4. Previous experience in a role related to the built environment is preferred, including previous jobs, internships, or relevant work experience.
5. A solid understanding of electronic security systems is desirable.
6. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
7. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
8. Capable of working effectively both as part of a team and independently.
9. Must be able to meet the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) before starting and undergo National Security Vetting at a minimum of SC level once in position.
