The role is to assist and support teaching staff delivering a broad spectrum of academic and vocational subject areas within the classroom and around the centre. We are a supportive and friendly team, who work together to ensure quality of our provision, within the local community to support the needs of the locality. What will I be doing as a Learning Support Assistant? A Learning Support Assistant plays a critical role in creating a positive learning environment, to support students, in achieving their goals. You will ensure that learners receive high quality support to enable them to make good progress from their starting points. Duties include (but are not limited to): Identify and maintain focus on achievement of desired outcomes for learners across all subject areas looking at a variety of progression destinations to ensure they are preparing for and participating in suitable opportunities. Have a good understanding of all learners’ needs, including LDD/SEND and supportive strategies that are included in the group profile and initial assessment. Actively engage and motivate learners in decisions that affect them whilst supporting the delivery of tailored programmes that cater for the specific needs, interests, and abilities of each individual learner Provide feedback to teaching staff on progress of learners, against targets set, including qualifications and pastoral support needs. Develop relationships and liaise with appropriate external agencies in support of learner’s needs and work collaboratively in a multi-agency setting as required. An Enhanced with Barred Lists DBS check is essential. Relevant qualifications around supporting learning or SEN students is desirable.
