Our client are global Data Centre organisation operating across the USA, Europe and Asia who both own their facilities as well as self-delivering for M&E/critical services. Seeking to bolster their existing engineering teams, they are currently recruiting for a multi-skilled (Electrical or Mechanical bias) Multi-skilled engineer to work on a Monday-Friday basis at one of their London data centres in the Heathrow area. Guideline salary for this position is up to £50,000 basic, along with a fantastic benefits package which includes annual bonus, healthcare, pension and the opportunity for overtime and healthy training budget.
Candidates must be fully qualified in either electrical or mechanical engineering, ideally through a full apprenticeship, and with at least five years of experience within a critical environment. Ideally this will have been served within a similar data centre, while the client will also consider pharmaceutical/healthcare/financial services maintenance also. Along with core qualifications, additional training such as LV / HV authorisation, 2391, F-Gas, Mechanical AP status, etc will all be beneficial and particular working knowledge should include:
Electrical & Mechanical Fault-Finding, Single & Three Phase Power, Motors, Pumps, Air Handling & Fan Coil Units, BMS Operation, Water Treatment, 1st line Chiller & Boiler Faults, Diesel Generators (inc. on-load tests), HV & LV Distribution (Switching, Shut-Downs), Static & Rotary UPS Systems, VESDA, Close Control AC Units, etc.
This is an exciting opportunity for an existing critical services maintenance engineer to join an in-house organisation, or perhaps someone looking to come away from a full 24/7 shift role and onto a Mon-Fri position. Communication skills are important, where this engineer role will be working closely with the Data Centre Supervisor – being able to effectively co-ordinate subcontractors and escorting around the facility. This position will likely be next in line for succession planning, offering the chance to move into a lead/supervisory position in future.
