We have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Developer to join our Technology team based in Bristol.
What will you be doing?
The role will be in a newly formed team that will develop and support a range of systems and services used across the whole of the business. The current focus is on the development of a centralised identity access management solution that will be used by a number of different platforms, including outsourced SaaS applications.
Key job accountabilities include:
Responsible for design, development and support of the software owned by the team, including:
* Collaborate on the technical designs for solutions in the team based on customer requirements.
* Implement those solutions.
* Shared responsibility for infrastructure maintenance and support; we support what we build.
* Maintain our AWS accounts, including security, cost, configuring services, deploying software, etc.
* Drive the adoption of simplified architecture.
Support the Engineering Manager to improve the metrics for the team, including:
* Contribute to the development of a results-driven team culture, building on DevOps and agile principles to promote collaboration, responsibility, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
* Participate actively in sprint reviews and retrospectives.
* Responsible for setting up and maintaining continuous integration and continuous delivery.
* Lead on ensuring that application risks are identified, recorded, prioritised, and clearly communicated to stakeholders.
* Responsible for keeping the systems secure: contribute to the team security metrics report. Support regular security reviews and penetration testing where appropriate. Escalate security risks where appropriate.
* Contribute to the Incident Management process through investigating and fixing issues. Attend retrospective lessons learned meetings and implement follow-up actions.
About you:
Knowledge, skills & previous experience:
* Strong software engineering skills.
* A good understanding of identity access management; we use Auth0 and OpenAthens.
* A good understanding of cloud infrastructure and serverless architectures (preferably AWS).
* A good understanding of Web services: REST, XML, JSON, etc.
* Development languages mainly Node.js/JavaScript.
* CI/CD tools: GitHub Actions or similar.
* Infrastructure as code: Terraform or similar.
* Experience working in an Agile environment.
