As part of a growing and agile business, our Environmental Planning team is looking for a Principal Environmental Consultant with a broad range of EIA experience. You will work collaboratively with a range of technical specialists on various projects, lead and coordinate Environmental Impact Assessments and related deliverables, work closely with clients, develop new business areas, and mentor team members.
In our Environmental team, you'll help improve quality of life through your expertise in environmental management, technical skills, or sustainability. Your work might involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality, or noise, often in some of the world's busiest and most beautiful locations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Leading the coordination and delivery of environmental work by multidisciplinary teams, influencing project development, and achieving optimal environmental outcomes.
2. Ensuring your work and the work of others meet high standards of quality.
3. Collaborating with the Impact Assessment Team across the UK.
4. Managing projects or project components, including resource allocation, subcontractor management, and quality assurance.
5. Supporting tender proposals and bids as part of a winning team.
6. Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers, and colleagues.
7. Engaging with stakeholders and consultees effectively.
8. Developing comprehensive reports and explaining outcomes to non-technical audiences.
9. Overseeing project performance concerning technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety aspects.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Strong knowledge of EIA practices, environmental principles, and technical specialisms.
* Experience with various project types, including energy, residential, regeneration, and major infrastructure projects.
* Proven ability to manage EIA screening, scoping, and Environmental Statements, including reviewing specialist chapters.
* Practical understanding of the UK planning system and consent processes.
* Excellent report writing, verbal, and presentation skills, with experience reviewing others' work.
* Leadership in multidisciplinary project coordination and management skills.
* Experience in consulting and negotiating with authorities and stakeholders.
* Ability to work collaboratively and supervise team members.
* Commercial skills including forecasting, project management, and quality assurance.
* Relevant degree or equivalent; chartered status or working towards it preferred.
* Valid UK driving license.
* Desired: Experience with SEA and IIA projects, knowledge of sustainability, waste, or carbon assessments.
