Positioned within the Customer & Operations team within the newest Super Squad for New Categories, you will be right in the centre of a fast paced team, working hand in hand with the buying team, building strong relationships with our biggest suppliers and working closely with all other functions across the Currys business to build, plan and execute the customer, colleague and commercial strategy and develop our business for future growth. This exciting role reports to the Head of Customer & Operations; you will be accountable for the customer experience within the channels supporting the Heads of category developing the category strategy blue print for customers and colleagues.
As a Senior Go to Market Manager you will need extensive experience of project and people management as you will be responsible for high turnover complex categories with a number of direct reports. Combining customer and competitor insight along with financial imperatives to ensure the category squad develops a customer driven strategy to both maximise CSAT and EBIT. This role will act as a lynchpin between all functional representatives in the squad, pulling together annual, quarterly and in-season initiatives and activities to maximise performance. They will also arm the category buyers to negotiate adequate supplier funding support.
You will need to have great relationship building skills, working closely with the Customer team, Channel teams, Commercial buying, Central Planning, Brand and Marketing and Services Team and use your influencing skills to secure support to drive the New Categories & Sold with business forward. Commercial acumen is a must as you will be required to support our analysis of trading performance, providing recommendations of actions to drive our business.
Our ideal candidate will be organised and self-motivated in order to prioritise their work whilst having strong attention to detail to ensure everything is right first time. You will have a proven track record of managing and developing a number of direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leads and develops the go to market team to engender a culture of collaborative working, rounded thinking and support. Maximises engagement in the company vision and its strategy and enables the team to deliver excellently
* Work with the customer insight team to ensure the squad adequately understands the customer insight to drive strategy decisions re competitors, financial performance, range performance, threats and opportunities, to support the development of the annual category strategy
* Create the blueprint for the customer and channel annual category strategy, helping define the guiderails for: target KPIs (CSAT, share, EBIT, stock), customer shopping journey, category proposition and the ‘go to market’ plan
* Using insight, work with the buyer, planner, services and credit representatives to define annually the category ‘proposition’ – the best combination of range, price, availability, services and credit to maximise customer satisfaction, competitiveness and financial return
* Work with the central planning and brand & marketing function to develop in line with the annual events calendar the ‘Go to market’ strategy and plan for the category
* Support the squad in landing all major initiatives, including major new product launches, new merchandising solutions and changes to the customer journey online and in-store, liaising with relevant supporting departments to deliver right first time
* Build close relationships with Key global brands and work with these suppliers and the buying team to agree and execute high value, funded initiatives in all channels – including sponsored marketing, fixtures and demonstration in store and colleague training
* Work with the Senior E-commerce Manager to understand category KPI dashboard and reporting metrics ensuring timely and accurate communication of performance vs targets. This may include page views, conversion, traffic sources (SEO, PPC, CRM etc.)
* Co-ordinate responses to major marketing briefs across the category in appropriate templates including TV deals, home page nominations, deal lists, CRM requirements, overarching promotions e.g. trade-in
* Manage, coach and develop direct reports to deliver category targets and to ensure compliance with the Commercial critical path and processes
* Provide and regularly review team members’ objectives, priorities and performance via Personal Development Review and one to ones, supporting their professional and personal development
Required Skills & Experience:
* Strong influencing skills and ability to manage several different stakeholders, at all levels, to deliver plans
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills to review data and provide recommendations/actions plans to drive sales, profit and cash
* Monitor internal controls and make recommendations as needed
* Marketing/Merchandising/Retail/Business Degree
* Experience of both the Electricals market and products
* Management/leadership experience of more than 1 direct report
