Planner / Senior Planner – Solar & BESS
Overview
The role of the Planner will be pivotal in the success of development projects. You will assist the Lead Planner in inputting to all stages of the project from inception to commencement of construction. You will provide assistance with management of planning projects with opportunity to take the lead in projects, developing professional skills to be responsible for more complex projects.
Location: London (Hybrid 3 days in office)
Level: Mid-Senior Level
About the Role
You will be expected to pro-actively project manage the development of renewable energy sites from site identification, through the consenting process working closely with the team and sub-contractors. You will assist the Lead Planner to progress all aspects of project development including to develop planning strategy, prepare EIA Screening Requests, planning application preparation and post- permission matters. Duties and responsibilities:
What will you do?
* Assess potential locations for renewable energy projects and report opportunities and risks.
* Analyze selected sites, considering planning policies and strategies to reduce risks.
* Coordinate and manage consultants working on planning applications and assessments.
* Build relationships with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.
* Help create and implement stakeholder engagement strategies, including public and community liaison.
* Prepare planning documents like Site Selection Reports to justify project locations.
* Handle post-approval tasks, including meeting conditions and processing amendments.
What are we looking for?
* 4-7 Years experience in development planning of large infrastructure (renewables preferred)
* Degree qualified in a planning or associated environmental discipline, preferably with or working towards Chartered RTPI Membership.
* Desirable to have experience of planning within the renewable energy industry.
* Excellent report writing, communication and project management skills.
* Enthusiastic attitude and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* A flexible attitude to work and the ability to travel regularly throughout the UK at short notice.
* Full UK Driving License.
