Position:
This role will lead on the design and delivery of all member-focused communications activity to drive improvements in member engagement and experience, help to sustainably grow our membership, and amplify our voice in society.
Working closely with the Head of Member Experience and other key members of the senior leadership team, successful execution of the role will deliver: impactful communications campaigns, an engaging social media presence, and an inclusive and engaging ‘shop window’ website.
The impact of activity under this remit will be clearly evidenced through effective monitoring and insights which will be used to continuously improve our engagement with current and potential members.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
The role holder will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to execute the following key duties that will help in achieving our objectives:
Sustainable Membership Growth
* Creating engaging content for social media campaigns, emails, newsletters, press releases, blog posts, and more.
* Monitoring social media platforms daily, liaising with colleagues to draft appropriate responses and identify relevant news opportunities.
* Managing and coordinating social media activities across IChemE departments and member communities.
* Bringing forward creative ideas to increase engagement across platforms.
* Writing and updating content for IChemE’s website and supporting others to do the same.
* Acting as an in-house journalist by identifying and collating relevant news stories.
* Briefing in-house graphic designers to create assets for campaigns.
* Developing and producing engaging video content to support IChemE’s objectives.
* Providing communications support for IChemE-related events.
* Conducting social media audits and providing recommendations for improvement.
* Ensuring consistency in messaging and alignment across all media and digital platforms in collaboration with teams across the institution.
Improved Member Experience
You will enhance the experience of an increasingly diverse member base by repurposing existing content to maximise its visibility and impact.
* Creating targeted audience-specific copy for the website and member communications.
* Supporting other teams to ensure clarity and consistency of messaging in member facing communications.
* Designing engaging newsletters and bulk emails using templates.
* Recommending improvements to member communications to enhance engagement.
* Collaborating with the CRM team to ensure communications are well-targeted and effective.
Making our voice heard
You will help IChemE build its reputation and influence by:
* Collaborating with senior leadership and policy teams to produce high-quality content for the website and other platforms.
* Monitoring and measuring the success of communications campaigns, providing actionable insights.
Education / Qualifications:Essential
* A degree (or equivalent) in public relations/communications/marketing, or a related discipline – or equivalent experience.
Desirable
* Professional membership of CIPR or CIM.
* A recognised qualification in PR/Communications.
Knowledge and experience:Essential
* A minimum of 5 years experience in a communications role.
* Proven experience in content creation, social media management and communications strategy.
* Ability to think creatively and strategically to drive engagement.
* Competence with CRM tools, email marketing platforms and analytics tools.
* Sound understanding and experience of using mainstream social media networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter as well as some knowledge of emerging platforms.
* High level of IT literacy including common Microsoft Office applications and Content Management Systems.
* Experience of measuring and reporting campaign impact using a range of analytical tools.
* Demonstrable experience in measuring the impact of communications activity.
Desirable
* Knowledge/understanding of Video Editing.
* General understanding and broad interest in engineering, science and technology.
* An understanding of the role of a professional membership organisation.
* Takes responsibility for own continuous personal development.

Other information:
In addition to duties and responsibilities listed above, the employee may be required to perform other duties assigned by their line manager from time to time.
IChemE is an international membership organisation and activities can take place outside of normal working hours. The job holder must be willing to attend and participate in such activities and associated travel. Additionally, the job holder will be required to liaise with colleagues located in different time zones on an ad-hoc basis to meet the needs of the business.
The post holder does not have direct responsibility for human, financial or material resource management. However, they are responsible for collating and managing sensitive information and will interact with chemical engineers and others at a senior level. Performance can directly impact on the reputation and standing of IChemE, membership retention and income generation.
37.5 Hours per week (Monday – Friday) You will be required to work from our UK Rugby office location (CV21 3HQ). Free onsite parking is provided.
The role would suit a lively, passionate and dynamic individual with experience of working in a B2B or B2C role in a fast-paced in-house role or full-service public relations agency.
Working across a range of industry and education sectors and with some knowledge of the relevant media, this exciting opportunity will appeal to an ambitious individual looking to refine and enhance their communications skills.

Starting salary will be up to £34,000 - £38,000.00 per annum (depending on experience) plus benefits which includes an excellent pension scheme.
