To provide a portering service to all wards & departments. To escort and convey patients by wheelchair, bed or trolley. To transfer various specimens or bloods to the pathology department. and other wards and departments. To collect prescriptions and drug books from wards and departments. and deliver them to the Pharmacy department. To distribute and change medical gas cylinders as requested. To assist at cardiac arrests. To transport records, X-rays, furniture, equipment and materials. To undertake mortuary duties as required. To report any suspicious incidents and assist where necessary. When required, assist with low level security requests. Attends mandatory training courses. Ensure that when a deceased patient is transported from the ward they are treated with due dignity and respect. Operate a communication device to keep in touch with other staff in the department. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory, these include moving & handling, resuscitation, infection control, clinical governance, fire. training and Dealing with Conflict training. Training in safe handling of medical gases. Training in safe handling of all medical gases/ safe handling of liquid nitrogen. Holder of Clean UK Driving Licence.
