We have a new vacancy for Associate Counsel in our Legal Contracts Team based in the UK. The role can be office based in Cambridge, Glasgow or Winchester or fully homebased anywhere in the UK. The role is permanent and full-time hours.

About the Position:
The Associate Counsel Contracts position provides legal advice and support in the drafting, review and negotiation of agreements with minimal oversight. He/she serves as the primary contact, within the department and with internal and external customers, for agreements in assigned business units.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that PPD's best interests are protected at all times and that senior and executive management have the legal information necessary to make informed decisions and grant approvals for business risks.
2. With oversight, provide legal advice and represent THERMO FISHER in legal matters.
3. Prepare, negotiate and finalize THERMO FISHER Agreements and/or other related documentation.
4. Assess legal risks and provide recommendations and alternative mitigating resolutions to departmental and senior management.
5. Make recommendations to Executive Management with regard to risks, strategies and recommendations upon request.
6. Provide training to other functional groups within THERMO FISHER on contract requirements and other legal matters.
7. Develop processes and training, and take advantage of other departmental improvement opportunities.
8. Understand and adhere to SOPs, WPDs and other regulations for all aspects of project implementation, execution and closeout.
9. Assist in other legal matters, as required.
10. Assist with customer disputes as requested.
Job Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and advanced degree in law (juris doctorate or equivalent educational model in other jurisdictions). Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years); or an equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Substantial organizational skills and strong attention to detail with proven ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
* Must be flexible and able to reprioritize workload to meet changing project needs.
* Comprehensive MS Excel and MS Word skills.
* Excellent English and grammar skills.
* Excellent analytical and decision-based thinking.
* Capable of drafting and negotiating routine contract provisions autonomously and complex contract provisions, with oversight.
* Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
* Must be able to identify risk and evaluate fact patterns to advise on the application of the law (may require some oversight).
