We are looking for a skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our team and play a crucial role in managing the commercial aspects of our projects.
Role Overview:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for assisting the commercial director in delivering projects from project inception to final account. You will work closely with our project delivery teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Your focus will be on maintaining accurate cost control, managing contracts, and maximising profitability while upholding our commitment to quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Management:
* Manage all commercial aspects of projects, including tender completion, cost estimation, breakdowns, budgeting, and financial reporting.
* Prepare and manage contract documentation, including valuations, variations, and final accounts.
* Monitor project cash flow and profitability, providing regular reports to management.
* Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers (including JCT and NEC contracts).
Project Collaboration:
* Work closely with project managers to ensure seamless project delivery.
* Provide commercial advice and support to project teams.
* Attend site meetings and conduct site visits as required.
Contractual & Financial:
* Review and interpret contract documents, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
* Assess and value variations and compensation events.
* Prepare and submit interim valuations and payment applications.
* Subcontractor management, including reviews and onboarding.
Reporting and Analysis:
* Prepare detailed progress reports and financial forecasts.
* Analyse project outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor (minimum 2 years) within the construction industry.
* Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial practices.
* Excellent commercial and financial acumen.
* High proficiency in relevant software, including Spreadsheet and Word Processing packages.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
* Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
* Valid UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills:
* Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Experience with JCT and NEC contracts.
