We are looking for an experienced Manual Machinist to join a world-leading design and manufacture company based in Stonehouse. Their compressors are supplied to various industries including Oil & Gas, Renewables, and Energy/Power. They are a family-run business with a strong and established team.
Responsibilities and Experience
The Manual Machinist will machine compressor components for small batch work as per the drawings provided. For this role, candidates will need to have experience of working in a manufacturing or engineering environment. A Certificate in machine shop technology/machine tool technology or a time-served apprenticeship would be an advantage.
Experience of manual machining and of reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings is essential. Experience of working with CNC machines and computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software would also be an advantage. Attention to detail and being a team player is crucial.
1. Making components using the manual mills, lathe, saw, and radial drill.
2. Self-inspecting components to drawing and reporting any manufacturing errors to the line manager for corrective action.
3. Ensuring that production requirements are met in line with the production schedule.
4. Continually assessing tool condition and maintaining as necessary.
5. Providing input/feedback to decrease run times and downtime to ensure continuous improvement.
Hours
Monday to Thursday 7.30am-4pm, Friday 7.30am-1.30pm. Overtime available.
