Job Summary: Initially this is a training post. Unless the successful candidate is experienced, full training in all aspects of Medical Reception and Administrative work related to general practice will be given. The main purpose of the role is to offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. Responsibilities include: Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice, including providing secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team. Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary healthcare team, secondary care, and other associated healthcare agencies. Duties and Responsibilities: You will perform a range of duties in a busy medical centre back office including: Filing Photocopying Administering e-mail appointments Taking prescription requests Dealing with and copying notes from solicitors' letters Administering insurance report details Dealing with incoming and outgoing post Scanning incoming correspondence After initial training, you will also have the opportunity to work on the front desk, meeting and greeting patients, making appointments, dealing with prescription requests, general enquiries, etc. Your role will then extend to include answering and dealing with incoming telephone calls.
