About the role
The specialised role reports to the Research & Innovation Director within No7 Beauty Company R&D.
1. As Head of Formulation & Consumer Sciences at No7 Beauty Company, you will lead and inspire a talented team, driving innovation and product development.
2. Leads creation of innovative new formulation technologies, delivery systems and formats based on application of new technology with a focus on novel IP and ensuring sustainability credentials and compliance requirements. Leads product prototyping activities that support innovation pipeline delivery. Builds capabilities and partnerships that enable prototype creation and screening.
3. Leads and develops Consumer Science based capabilities including management of global consumer panels. Builds new capabilities that enable technology screening from laboratory through to consumer and clinical testing.
4. Develops forward-looking product design approaches, leveraging automation, high-throughput methods and digital technologies to enhance innovation scale and speed.
5. Builds strong relationships with suppliers and academic partners to develop new technologies and inspire creativity through collaboration and co-creation.
6. Maintain a deep understanding of brands and the global skincare market to ensure innovation is fit for purpose, consumer-focused, future facing and commercially viable.
What you'll need to have
1. Formulation Expertise: Deep understanding of cosmetic formulation principles, ingredients, and technologies.
2. Consumer Science Knowledge: Strong understanding of consumer relevant research methodologies utilised in R&D including laboratory methods, consumer testing, clinical studies including proficiency in data analysis.
3. Scientific Proficiency and Experience: A strong scientist, preferably PhD with 10+ years' experience in Cosmetics / Beauty / Personal Care categories.
4. Team Leadership: Proven ability to build, lead and develop high-performing science teams.
5. Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with external collaborators.
