Job summary We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Rehab Occupational Therapy team for the community hospital ward working at Amersham Hospital. This is a 12 month maternity cover with a possibility of permanent recruitment afterwards. This role will suit someone who is passionate about providing high quality care and rehabilitation for patients, working together with the diverse MDT and in partnership with patients and families. The post holder will be supported by the Head Occupational Therapist, working alongside other experienced Band 7 Therapists, Band 6s and junior therapists and assistants. Main duties of the job To be responsible for leading and developing the Therapy service for the Community Hospitals alongside the Band 7 Physiotherapist assessing and treating patients referred for rehabilitation to enable them to be maintained safely in the community and in regard to all aspects of clinical governance within this speciality. To perform specialised assessment and treatment for patients with highly complex presentations and needs, and to provide expert advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, carers, relatives and others. To undertake all aspects of clinical responsibilities as a skilled, autonomous and advanced practitioner managing an unpredictable, diverse and complex caseload requiring rapid response, high levels of problem solving, clinical reasoning skills and exercising independence of judgment alone in hospital, community sites and patients' homes. To actively lead development of professional and service initiatives and contribute to organisational objectives. To supervise, teach and appraise Occupational Therapy staff and students within the specialty.
