Job Title: Marine Engineer

Starting Salary: Up to £16.25 per hour
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineer to join a leading yacht manufacturer. The role involves preparing, building, and installing engineering systems on luxury yachts, ensuring all work aligns with current drawings, specifications, and industry guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
* Build and install mechanical engineering systems on high-end yachts.
* Work collaboratively with other trades to support the yacht build process.
Required Knowledge & Experience
* Thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering systems, including:
* Hydraulics
* Marine plumbing (grey, black, fresh water)
* Air conditioning
* Gas installations
* Engine, gearbox, and final drive installations
* Familiarity with marine engineering installation requirements.
* Experience working with GRP construction techniques.
* Understanding of modern marine engineering technologies.
* Health & Safety awareness within an engineering environment.
Essential Skills
* Ability to install engineering systems in yachts or recreational craft.
* Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
* Safe operation of hand, power, and bench-mounted tools, including polishers and grinders.
* Experience in metal fabrication, including TIG welding.
Qualifications & Experience
* City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* Prior experience in a similar role within the past two years.
Personal Attributes
* Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
* Strong attention to detail with a "right first time" approach.
* Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Additional Requirements
* Must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and on uneven surfaces.
* A keen interest in yacht or recreational craft construction is desirable.
