Our Manchester office is offering the opportunity to join the team through an apprenticeship.
In this role, you will be supported through the Level 4, Civil Engineering Apprenticeship via Bolton College. As part of the apprenticeship, you will attend technical college on a day release programme to undertake the theoretical engineering qualification supported by a learning mentor to complete the apprenticeship and end point assessment (EPA).
You will learn from, and be mentored by, senior members of the team, you will develop positive relationships with colleagues through good professional conduct and be encouraged to learn new design trends/design techniques (BIM etc.). You will also be able to develop knowledge and experience of traditional building materials, e.g. Steel, Timber, Concrete and RC detailing, and overall site-wide infrastructure and earthworks.
Responsibilities
* Learn to produce general arrangement and detailed drawings per drawing mark-ups and relevant standards, under the supervision of a Technician/Senior Technician.
* Work closely with other members of the design team to help deliver a quality product.
* Learn about design co-ordination, and how it relates to civil and structural engineering.
* Develop an appreciation of the company philosophy of Perfect Delivery.
* Develop an appreciation of the company QA procedures, and learn how to check your work before submission to the supervisor.
* Help with the registering and document control of incoming information and outgoing deliverables.
* Help with office and project filing and maintaining drawing records, such as check and record file copies.
* Develop positive relationships with colleagues through good professional conduct.
* Attend in-house CAD courses and seminars.
* Be willing to learn new design trends/design techniques (BIM etc.).
* To be willing and able to develop knowledge and experience of traditional building materials, e.g. Steel, Timber, Concrete and RC detailing, and overall site-wide infrastructure and earthworks.
Requirements
* 5 GCSEs at Grades A*-C / 9-4 including Maths (Grade B / 5 or 6), English and Science or their equivalent.
* A Level EEE - Must include Mathematics and preferably a Science in either Chemistry or Physics (UCAS points: 48).
* T-level (Pass or above) in Construction: Design, Surveying and Planning. (UCAS points: 72).
* BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma MPP in an Engineering subject area or Construction and Built Environment area (Must include Mathematics and Further Mathematics) (UCAS points: 64).
* BTEC Level 3 National Diploma MM in an Engineering subject area, with a minimum of merit in Mathematics and Further Mathematics. (UCAS points: 64).
* Civil Engineering Technician level 3 apprenticeship MP (UCAS points: 48) alongside grade Pass or Distinction at EPA.
* Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above).
* Full UK Driving Licence or willingness to obtain.
About You
* Ability to work under the supervision of a Technician/Senior Technician to produce 2D & 3D C&S deliverables.
* An ability to understand drawing mark-ups, and able to develop a good eye for the detail of specific tasks.
* Have an interest in technical drawing, construction and art.
