Main duties of the job The key responsibilities of the role will include: Providing comprehensive management of patients in the Critical Care Units and associated areas, ensuring high standards of patient care. Participate in the rota, providing resident cover to the Critical Care Unit 24/7, ensuring high standards of patient care are consistently met. The remaining contracted hours will be spent on supporting professional activities (SPA), including participation in meetings, teaching, and research. Delivering on-call cover as part of a 1:8 rota, in full compliance with the European Working Time Directive (EWTD). Offering independent, immediate care to critically ill patients, including managing airway emergencies, with support from the on-call team when necessary. Contributing to the 24/7 on-call service for Critical Care, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure continuous coverage. Ensuring effective communication and availability for emergencies, with arrangements in place for staff to contact you promptly when needed.
