As Laboratory Technician, you will be part of a team and be required to support and work flexibly between departments. You will ensure that you follow the correct methodologies and maintain a high level of quality. Routine work demands a high level of attention to detail, as well as the ability to work accurately and quickly to controlled methods.
Key Activities:
1. Ensure that work carried out complies with both customer requirements and company procedures.
2. Ensure that work performed complies with accreditation requirements, and that work carried out is accurate.
3. Accurate data entry, good organisation, ability to take on technical information and good manual dexterity.
4. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper handling of hazardous materials, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, and participating in safety training.
5. Support Customer Service team in providing first class service to clients.
6. Provide feedback to the senior technicians/line manager regarding resource requirements, client issues etc.
7. Provide general advice to clients and co-workers.
8. Communicate to clients and co-workers in a clear, concise, and unambiguous way, adopting a professional tone and style.
9. Carry out other duties consistent with fulfilling the job function and ability to flex between departments as requested by the team leader.
10. Effective day to day management of samples within the testing department, including tasks such as booking in samples, recording temperature checks/instrument checks etc.
11. Ensure work is tested within target turnaround times.
12. Maintain good and efficient housekeeping.
As Laboratory Technician, you will have a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to upholding the highest safety and quality standards in a fast-paced environment. The role also involves participation in quality and health and safety training as well as contributing to internal and external quality proficiency schemes.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Good general standard of education in Science, English and Math is essential in the role.
2. Good IT literacy skills (MS Word, Excel).
3. Attention to detail and ability to problem solve on the job.
4. Experience in a similar working environment within a UKAS accredited laboratory (beneficial, but not essential).
5. Experience within the consumer goods sector, whether this be testing or production.
6. Basic knowledge of test methods & specifications for consumer products and the ability to understand technical instruction, documents, and standards.
7. Ability to work within a fast-paced environment against KPI's.
