With state-of-the-art skills in materials technology, particularly relating to elastomers, polymers, composites and engineering plastics plus extensive expertise in precision machining of exotic alloys for metallic seals, and tension control fasteners for bolted joints.
Your Role
As a Trainee Technical Salesperson you will support the product installation and sales teams covering Ireland. James Walker will provide training to improve your solution based selling techniques, product knowledge and customer engagement skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Learning and understanding James Walker product portfolio and developing technical knowledge to enable a full understanding of customer requirements and solution based selling
* Deal with customer RFQs and issue quotations within a targeted timeline
* Support and assist internal sales team with customer enquiries
* Qualify leads and uncover new business opportunities, as you grow and develop your technical and product knowledge, and work closely with the external sales team to communicate leads and provide any further support as needed.
* Attending customer meetings where relevant
* Site installation work, initially for training purposes, and then as required.
* Be accountable for delivering results, achieving and exceeding agreed KPIs and always strive to improve own performance
* Form positive and productive relationships with colleagues across the business and work closely with key stakeholders (eg Sales Team, Product Management Team, Marketing)
* Promote the Company’s full portfolio of products and capabilities using exceptional active selling skills to maximise each account’s potential through range-selling, cross-selling and value-selling.
* Delight customers by delivering exceptional customer service with every interaction
* Prepare and submit formal business tenders and proposals for new commercial opportunities
* Keep ahead of the competition by constantly monitoring industry and competitor trends and developments, bringing fresh ideas forward for new business opportunities and keeping key stakeholders (Sales Manager, Marketing, etc.) informed
* Establish and increase contacts and opportunities by maximising networking opportunities using multiple sources (conferences, events, social media, etc.) to increase awareness of James Walker
* Actively participate in learning events, researching, reading professional publications, and both internal and external-led workshops and associated events.
About you
Essential Experience
* A keen interest in developing a career in technical sales or product specialist
* Interested in working towards a technical/engineering qualification
* Able to problem solve and make focused and considered decisions
* Adaptable to change (trainable and coachable)
Preferred Experience
* Some sales or technically based experience
* A basic understanding of sealing technology and applications
* Able to read and understand engineering drawings
* Experience of addressing ‘technical’ issues whilst working in a ‘sales’ role/environment
Qualifications:
* Third Level qualification or foundation course preferably in a technical-related field (Preferred)
