Main duties of the job
Principal Responsibilities:
Responsible to the Consultant with whom the appointment is made. Works in accordance with anagreed rota with the other Paediatric staff and liaises with Consultant clinical and other hospital staff as necessary.
The Horton Paediatric department is a resident paediatric consultant delivered service and this means that the trainees work closely together with the paediatric consultant on site.
Routine clerking, observation, care and supervision of Paediatric patients, under the care of the Consultant Paediatricians and cases admitted to the children's ward under the care of the Consultant ENT Surgeon and Orthopaedic surgeons. Involvement in the acute emergency care of children attending the Horton A/E department. Routine examination of new-born infants.
Attendance at routine ward round and at other times as ill patients require. Liaison with General Practitioners for the acceptance of emergency paediatric cases.
Completion of electronic patient discharge information and summaries for transmission to General Practitioners.
Such other duties of a comparable nature as may be required.
