We are looking for a colleague with experience of leadership in patient safety to provide the required level of expertise to the ICB and providers across the ICS. Main duties of the role are:
1. Manage the work streams of the Patient Safety portfolio.
2. Contribute to and implement the ICB quality strategy and assurance framework in relation to patient safety.
3. Lead the implementation of the national patient safety strategy and patient safety incident response framework (PSIRF) across the integrated care system and ICB.
4. Actively work across directorates to develop a shared understanding of patient safety.
5. Review, summarise and advise in relation to national guidance, national safety alerts and legislation in order to support service development and delivery.
Main duties of the job
The Patient Safety Lead will report directly to the Director of Quality/Deputy Chief Nursing Officer, working closely with patient safety leads across provider organisations and regional colleagues; work collaboratively with the health innovation network and with clinical and programme leads internally at the ICB.

The postholder will:
1. Be responsible for providing professional expertise in patient safety to the outcome of the business processes for the Department or Directorate.
2. Manage the work streams of the Patient Safety portfolio.
3. Lead the implementation of the national patient safety strategy and patient safety incident response framework (PSIRF) across the integrated care system and ICB.
4. Actively work across directorates to develop a shared understanding of patient safety.
5. Review, summarise and advise in relation to national guidance, national safety alerts and legislation in order to support service development and delivery.

7. Use patient safety learning themes to support quality assurance and improvement activities and inform future planning and commissioning decisions.
8. Work collaboratively with Health Innovation Oxford and Thames Valley, NHSE South East region and provider partners to identify opportunities for integrating strategies and work streams to maximise engagement, expertise and resources to facilitate change across the organisations.

Qualifications
Essential
* Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
* Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to masters level equivalent.
* Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development.
* Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement.
* Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health, NHSE, Integrated Care Boards and provider organisations.
* Member of relevant professional body.
