A pupil referral unit in Workington, West Cumbria is seeking a teaching assistant to support pupils within Key Stage 3, with the role commencing in June 2024.
The school provides a specialist learning environment for pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH), and class sizes are small, generally with 5-10 pupils in each class.
The school is ideally looking for someone with experience supporting pupils in an SEN or PRU setting and who can support pupils demonstrating challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will demonstrate resilience and confidence when developing relationships with SEMH pupils.
The school is also willing to consider candidates without experience in a specialist SEN school or PRU setting who may have transferable skills, such as supporting adults with additional needs in care/support work settings or from sports coaching with young people.
The school requires a teaching assistant to start from June 2024, on an ongoing, full-time basis until December 2024, with the potential for permanent roles becoming available in 2025. Part-time hours may be considered for the right candidate.
The role will involve working school hours from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with rates of pay available from £84.50 to £95 per day, depending on experience.
