Lancashire Constabulary's Professional Standards Department is seeking a Senior Vetting Officer to be based at Hutton Headquarters. The site is accessible by public transport and there is also free car parking on site.
This post is temporary until 31st March 2025.
The purpose of this role is to manage the team conducting all Police vetting within Lancashire and ensure each application is researched and interrogated, so all risk, threat and vulnerability is identified, understood and dealt with appropriately. Strong risk-based decision-making skills are required as well as an investigative mindset and the ability to critically analyze the findings.
The post holder must ensure a fair and consistent approach is taken on all Police vetting and actively seek out any disproportionality. They will also ensure the standards set out in legislation, policies, and guidance are adhered to. The post holder will also deputize for the Force Vetting Manager as and when required.
The successful candidate should have previous experience of investigating and interviewing, critical analysis, and knowledge and understanding of threat, risk, and vulnerability. They should also have comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, i.e., DPA, CPIA, Human Rights Act, Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
As a condition of your appointment, you must undergo and pass MV and SC Vetting. Please be aware there is a minimum 5-year UK residency required for Management Vetting.
