Monarch Education is seeking a qualified Science Teacher to join a dynamic and supportive secondary school on a temp to perm basis. This exciting opportunity is open to teachers with any Science specialism - whether it's Physics, Chemistry, or Biology - and will involve teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
The successful candidate will have a clear focus on creating engaging, well-structured Science lessons that meet the needs of all students. You will have the opportunity to work in a school committed to educational excellence, with a strong team and a supportive leadership structure.
Key Responsibilities Of a Science Teacher
* Teaching and Learning:
o Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality Science lessons that engage students at KS3, KS4, and KS5 (including GCSE and A-Level).
o Adapt and differentiate lesson plans to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, ensuring all learners can access the curriculum and achieve their potential.
o Maintain high standards of student engagement, promoting scientific curiosity and critical thinking through stimulating teaching methods.
o Integrate practical experiments and demonstrations to enhance theoretical learning and promote hands-on scientific understanding.
* Classroom Management:
o Establish and maintain clear rules and expectations for student behaviour to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.
o Use effective classroom management strategies to promote respect, focus, and collaboration among students.
o Maintain a safe environment, especially during practical activities, and ensure that health and safety guidelines are adhered to.
* Assessment and Feedback:
o Regularly assess student progress using a variety of methods, including tests, assignments, and practical assessments.
o Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve, both academically and personally.
o Use data from assessments to monitor progress, track student development, and identify areas where additional support or intervention may be required.
* Curriculum Development:
o Work collaboratively with the Science department to review and develop the curriculum, ensuring it remains current, relevant, and challenging.
o Support students in their preparation for GCSE and A-Level examinations, ensuring they are well-equipped for success.
* Student Welfare and Support:
o Support students' academic, emotional, and social development, providing pastoral care as needed.
o Maintain a positive relationship with students, offering guidance and encouragement to help them navigate both academic and personal challenges.
o Participate in the school's wider pastoral and enrichment programs, helping students develop outside the classroom.
* Collaboration and Professional Development:
o Participate in regular departmental meetings, contributing ideas and feedback to improve teaching and learning within the Science department.
o Work alongside other teaching staff, support staff, and school leaders to enhance overall school performance and student outcomes.
o Continuously seek opportunities for professional development, attending relevant training, workshops, and conferences to improve teaching skills and scientific knowledge.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
* Qualifications:
o A recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
o A degree in a Science-related field (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a combination).
* Experience:
o Proven experience of teaching Science at KS3, KS4, and KS5, with a strong understanding of the Science curriculum.
o Experience of using a variety of assessment methods and being able to adapt teaching to suit students' individual learning styles.
o Ability to use data to inform planning and improve student outcomes.
* Skills and Attributes:
o Strong classroom management and behaviour strategies.
o Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to engage students and foster a positive learning environment.
o A passion for Science and the ability to inspire students with a love for the subject.
o Ability to work effectively as part of a team, sharing ideas and collaborating with colleagues to enhance teaching practices.
o A proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving and adapting to the evolving needs of the school.
