We are seeking a Bank Kitchen Porter to join our Catering team. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the smooth and efficient running of our kitchen, ensuring high standards of hygiene and customer service are met for the benefit of our patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Dishwashing & Cleaning: Clearing and washing up dishes, kitchenware, and utensils, including operating the mechanical dishwasher.
Kitchen Hygiene & Cleanliness: Performing daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning tasks as outlined in work schedules, ensuring the cleanliness of food preparation areas, catering equipment, storage rooms, and production areas.
Waste Management: Emptying bins, sorting waste (including clinical waste), and ensuring the proper disposal of rubbish in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Deep Cleaning: Regularly deep cleaning kitchen equipment and appliances, including refrigerators, freezers, and ovens, as well as defrosting refrigeration units as per the schedule.
Food Preparation Support: Assisting with basic food preparation, such as preparing vegetables, salads, sandwiches, and light snacks under the supervision of the Head Chef.
Temperature Checks: Conducting daily temperature checks of fridges, freezers, and other food storage areas to comply with health and safety standards.
Stock & Deliveries: Assisting with the supervised monitoring, recording, and storage of kitchen deliveries, ensuring food items are stored correctly and in compliance with food hygiene regulations.
Customer Service: Serving food in the staff restaurant to employees, volunteers, and visitors, ensuring a friendly and efficient service. Operating the till as required.
Health & Safety: Adhering to all health and safety, COSHH, and food hygiene regulations to ensure a safe and clean working environment. Reporting any maintenance or equipment issues to the relevant department.
What We’re Looking For:
Previous experience in a catering or kitchen role.
Knowledge of COSHH regulations, food hygiene standards, and health and safety procedures.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
A proactive and positive attitude with a keen eye for detail.
The ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a busy environment.
