Integra Education are currently recruiting for an Autism Lead to work on an EOTAS package for a pupil receiving their education at home.
Your role will involve working under the direction of the Lead Professional to promote educational success and outstanding outcomes for the student. As an autism lead you will be responsible for the following:
* Understand and be able to respond to the ways in which autism may present a barrier to aspects of learning.
* Consistently employ their knowledge of the individual pupil in their decision-making regarding advice on effective strategies.
* Understand and be able to respond to how autism may act as a barrier in relationships with adults and pupils.
* Provide training to all staff working on the package on ASD.
* Advise MDT on ASD practice.
Involvement with the pupil and teaching staff:
* The Autism Lead should act as a point of contact for staff who teach the pupil.
* The Autism Lead would be the named person for the staff to facilitate the effective engagement between themselves and the pupil.
* The Autism Lead would also share relevant information to the staff to support them in their sessions with the pupil.
* It is important for the Autism Lead to keep good communication with the lead practitioner to map and track the implementation of strategies for the pupil.
* A main aim in the work of the Autism Lead would be to enhance the skills and knowledge of all key staff in relation to autism so that they grow in confidence and competence.
Requirements for this role:
* Qualification and/or experience relating to working pastorally with young people.
* Autism Education Trust Training (Level 1, 2, or 3).
* Teaching Qualification - QTS (Post 16) - essential.
* Ability to help raise attainment of young people.
* Flexible attitude/approach.
* Ability to develop effective relationships with the student and staff working on the package.
